Cooking Challenge

It was mrb’s birthday on Monday and I asked him what he wanted (after 14 years together, I need a bit of inspiration, ok!)

So, besides a new kite & board (!) he’s asked for 5 home cooked meals. Now I don’t cook, never have, and never intended to… so this is a real challenge for me. My negotiating skills are better than my cooking skills, so I have bargained him down to 3 evening meals and 2 breakfasts. The only restriction I have, is that the meals can’t be bought (take aways) and they can’t be served between 2 slices of bread.

I did offer to put the peanut butter straight onto the plate, but apparently that wasn’t good enough!

So, while I’ve been panicking a little bit, ka has come to the rescue with a cook book she thinks I can get on with:

Anyone got any good (easy-peasy) recipe ideas for me??

So now they know

My boss just sent the email to all@work letting them know that I will be on my way at the end of July. Of course it is still 2 months + a bit away (count down to 23 July!) but at least it’s out there and I can talk openly about my very exciting future!

I am sure this deserves a #yayiamgoingonsabaticalsoonbeer? Any takers?

Where are you?

It is simple.

We are where we should be, doing what we should be doing.

..Otherwise we would be somewhere else, doing something else.

And the day came when the risk it took to remain tightly closed in a bud, was more painful than the risk it took to bloom.

Today I received the official acceptance of resignation letter from my boss. It still feels surreal.

While the job has spirralled into a gigantic beast, the company itself, my boss and colleagues have been great to work for and with. I suppose that’s why it feels weird. I usually leave jobs because I hate them or because I am relocating.

Now I am leaving for no other reason than to take time out for me. It seems to selfish in a sense. But then I remember it’s also about creating time for me & mrb. Less selfish and more essential.

It was a lovely letter, with an invitation and an open door at the end of it. Who knows what will happen in the future, but I may not been an altogether forgotten face at the end of my sabbatical.
